Drake

The album is great and shows much improvement over his debut album. The production is lavish, the songwriting exquisite, and the themes complex. It is similar in theme to 808’s and Heartbreak by Kanye but may be even better.

Today marks the release date of Drake’s sophomore effort, Take Care, and with it further entrenches Drake’s place in pop culture. It’s been a long time coming, as the superstar comes from a country unknown for its pop culture impact, especially in the Hip-Hop world. He grew up with his mom in a split household in a wealthy part of Toronto. While in high school, before dropping out, Aubrey Drake Graham took acting classes….

and with a name like Aubrey….

I’m sure you have heard by now that Aubrey was on Degrassi: The Next Generation. But what you may not know is that he plays a junior high school basketball star who becomes disabled after getting shot by a fellow student. I previously believed that Degrassi was merely a high school drama show, but after further investigation this show is way cooler than that. The following is a list of various characters from the show:

  • A transgender, who goes on to get shot at prom
  • A violent outcast who goes on to a brief stint at lesbianism. Later becomes a stripper.
  • A girl with a gambling addiction.
  • LARPing, cocaine addict
  • A mysterious girl with a criminal record that kills her ex

That is just from 5 random characters biographies from wikipedia. RANDOM. Now, I have no problem with any of those, I merely am a little saddened that in my entire time of junior high school through high school I have never met anybody like this. The show is a lot more awesome than I expected but I really hope nobody has an experience like ANY CHARACTER ON THE SHOW.

SUX TO SUCK

Back to Drake. He went on to rap on two mixtapes before releasing So Far Gone, the mixtape that would go on to get him a record label deal with Young Money. The label he would use to go on to release his debut album, Thank Me Later.

This brings me to Take Care, the already critically acclaimed new album from Drizzy. To cut to the chase, the album is great and shows much improvement over his debut album. The production is lavish, the songwriting exquisite, and the themes complex. It is similar in theme to 808’s and Heartbreak by Kanye but may be even better.
